about the WM and WMRHS. If you have information of general interest to members of
the society or the public in general which relate appropriately to the history of the WM,
or current events of the society, please email the Webmaster.
Items which are time sensitive, and have expired are in smaller type.
Note: When winter weather is a concern, museum operations, and
monthly meetings are suspended when there is a snow emergency in effect for Carroll
County Maryland. Call the Maryland State Police at 410-386-3000 to find
out if a snow emergency plan is in effect 2 hours before the meeting, or museum
opening. If so, the functions of the society are suspended for that day.

Due to the current weather forecast which predicts a 100% chance
of snow, with extreme snow accumulations likely, the monthly membership meeting
in Union Bridge is canceled for Friday February 5th. In addition, the
society will NOT appear at the scheduled Great Scale Model Train Show in
Timonium for the weekend of February 6th and 7th. People interested in
visiting the society Museum on Sunday February 7th, should observe the posted
notice above. |

It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of
former WMRHS treasurer and past President John Gruber on August 12, 2009.
John had been suffering with heart problems for some time. Apparently, his
condition got much worse about the middle of July. For those who never met him,
he was treasurer and president of the Society at different times. John did a lot
for our organization and was largely instrumental in the Society's early
growth. In recent times, he has been a benefactor of the Society with a large
amount of donations which included many high ticket items. Honorary membership
status was conferred on him in the early 1990s. John and Ruth moved to Tucson in
1993. John will be missed by all who knew him. Our sincere condolences go out to
Mrs. Ruth Gruber and the entire Gruber family. |
